One of my best friends is an amazing woman. She home schools her three children and still manages to find time to connect with me. She cares about people and the earth and is such a gentle beautiful spirit. They decided to raise chickens for the eggs and she fell in love with one named Gertrude. Gertrude needed special care, because she had “Runt and Stunt Syndrome.” Despite Shelly’s careful care, Gertrude didn’t make it, but I have memorialized her forever here.
